Great to meet you!

Hi - I am so glad you are here. I am Karr, a Licensed Professional Counselor and wounded healer with a burning passion to support the healing journey of others. I specialize working with the queer community and those who feel stuck in their survival mode after surviving traumatic experiences. I have training and experiencing navigating trauma, gender affirming care, and LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy.

I am an avid reader and obsessed with all things fantasy. At my core, I am a lifetime learner and dedicated challenger. I enjoy exploring the way systems operate, how they impact us today, and ways we can resist and challenge as a collective. When I am not working with clients, you can find me with my head in my kindle, spending far too many hours playing video games, or in some other hobby I am currently hyper-fixated on only to forget about a month later!

My approach to therapy

Trauma deeply impacts how we understand ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us, especially when it occurs within the context of collective trauma, grief and systemic oppression. I am not afraid to call out systems of harm, and recognize how living within these systems can cause trauma responses. I use a decolonial framework to understand, advocate for & support my clients. I use an eclectic and collaborate approach that draws from multiple modalities based on each client's presenting needs and strengths. For trauma therapy, I focus on the neurobiology impacts of trauma, and both mind and body strategies to process traumatic experiences.

I work alongside you to identify meaningful avenues to your healing journey that centers your agency, and autonomy. I believe that healing comes from many places; within communities, among friends and found family, and inside and beyond the therapy room. Authenticity, safety, and advocacy lay at the heart of my work.

What you can expect from me

In our work together, we slow down. We listen to what your body has been carrying. We make room for grief, desire, rage, and softness. We acknowledge the way systems have harmed us, and identify ways to strengthen your connection to others, to your community, and to yourself. Together, we create space that allows your nervous system to rest, and that allows yourself to begin to heal. If this is a space you are looking for, I invite you to reach out.
