Katelyn Ackley

Welcome! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with over a decade of experience working with children, teens & families. I have a small private practice in which I work with youth & their families who may be struggling with anxiety, OCD, ADHD, depression, and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Working as a school counselor as well for the past 11 years, I also provide support with school related challenges, including school avoidance, social skills & school related processes (special education, 504 plans).

I strongly believe that working with children & teens is best when the approach is collaborative & supportive-it truly takes a village! I will work directly with your child & teen to help them build life-long skills & to provide a safe space to process challenges in their life. I regularly communicate with families to troubleshoot challenges & provide support and strategies to strengthen your relationship with your child & build confidence on how to respond in tricky moments. I use a variety of methods during sessions, including components of CBT, DBT & play-based interventions. I am also trained in Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), an effective treatment for supporting challenges related to OCD & phobias.

Within the first session, my goal is to begin building a trusting & supportive relationship with your child & family. We will spend this time getting to know each other and begin setting goals to best meet identified needs. My hope is that after the first session everyone has a clear understanding of what therapy will entail and what to expect in future sessions!
