Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Katelyn, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a straightforward belief: therapy doesn't have to be stiff, scary, or overly serious to be deeply effective. I bring warmth, humor, and honesty into the room, because healing happens best when you feel like a real human being, not a diagnosis.

I specialize in working with adults navigating trauma, life transitions, anxiety, depression, and the unique pressures that come with high-stakes careers and identities. I have a particular passion for serving those who are often the last to ask for help; first responders, military service members, veterans, active duty spouses, and rural communities who've long had to figure things out on their own. If you're someone who's used to being strong for everyone else, this is a space where you get to just be.

My approach blends trauma-informed and body based principles, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based practices. That means we work at your pace, we build on your strengths, and we stay grounded in what actually works for your life; not a one-size-fits-all formula.

I hold a Master of Science in Professional Clinical Counseling from Grand Canyon University and am a Clinical Supervisor, with over a decade of experience across inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community behavioral health settings.

If you're ready to do real work, with some laughter along the way, I'd love to connect.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy starts with one simple premise: you are the expert on your own life. My job isn't to hand you a script or tell you who to be, it's to walk alongside you, help you cut through the noise, and build on the strengths you already have.

I work from a trauma-informed foundation, which means I understand that a lot of what brings people into therapy isn't a character flaw; it's a survival response. Before we dig into goals and strategies, we make sure the space feels safe, respectful, and genuinely yours.

From there, I draw on solution-focused and motivational interviewing techniques to help you get clear on what you actually want and what's been getting in the way. We don't have to spend years excavating your past to make meaningful progress, though we'll go there if it matters to your healing. I follow your lead.

I also integrate mindfulness-based practices, not the eye-roll-inducing "just breathe" kind, but practical tools for staying present, regulating your nervous system, and breaking patterns that no longer serve you.

I work especially well with people who are a little skeptical of therapy, who've tried it before and felt like something was missing, or who carry a lot of responsibility for others and rarely put themselves first. First responders, veterans, active duty members and their families, and folks in rural communities often tell me they didn't expect to feel this understood; that's exactly the point.

Expect honesty. Expect humor. Expect to be challenged... kindly, but directly. And expect a therapist who shows up as a real person, because that's the only way I know how to do this work.

What you can expect from me

The first session is simple: there's no pressure to have it all figured out, and there's nothing you need to prepare. Your only job is to show up.

We'll spend our time getting to know each other, who you are, what's brought you in, and what you're hoping life looks like on the other side of this. I'll ask questions, and you're welcome to ask me some, too. I'm a real person, and I think the therapeutic relationship works best when it goes both ways.

I won't be furiously taking notes or running you through a clinical checklist. Yes, there's some ground we need to cover; history, what's been hard, what you've already tried...but it's a conversation, not an intake form. I want you to leave the first session feeling heard, not processed.

By the end, we'll have a shared sense of where you want to go and whether we're a good fit to get there together. Fit matters. If I'm not the right therapist for you, I'll tell you honestly and help you find someone who is.

What I want most from that first hour is for you to walk out thinking, "okay, I can do this." Therapy can be hard work, but it should also feel like a relief to have finally started.
