Katharine Shumaker

Katharine Shumaker is a graduate of NYU's Silver School of Social Work. Katharine began her career working with Older Adults in outpatient community settings. Once moving to Los Angeles, Katharine worked as forensic therapist to support folks with severe mental illness transition back into the community from incarceration.

Katharine has extensive experience working with complex mental health while utilizing a trauma informed approach to treatment.

My approach to therapy is both direct, warm, and solution focused. I utilize skills from Motivational Interviewing as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to support my client's in managing their mental health symptoms and life stressors.

Clients can expect an inviting and compassionate space when meeting with me for therapy. Clients can expect to focus on processing while utilizing solution-focused skills to support them in managing their overall wellbeing.
