Great to meet you!

I have a warm and compassionate style and my goal is for my clients to feel heard, known, understood, better equipped and empowered through our work in the therapy space. I grew up on the East Coast and have spent the better part of the last decade on the West Coast, though have moved around and experienced life in many different cities, towns, and even countries. I have a passion for time spent in the outdoors, and believe strongly that everyone has a place in nature. I earned my Master's of Counseling Psychology in the Bay Area at The Wright Institute and spent my clinical career prior to my time with Core Therapy working as a school-based therapist in the Bay Area. I have many years of experience working with children and adolescents in various contexts, and enjoy the energy and perspectives that they bring to the world. Here at Core Therapy, I enjoy supporting adults and adolescents through life's many transitions.

My approach to therapy

I have an ecclectic approach that draws from various theoretical orientations. My primary approach to therapy generally is client-centered and non-directive, and I encourage my clients to be an active participant in the therapeutic process. I strive to maintain curiosity and provide a safe and non-judgmental container where clients can come to process their emotions and experiences. I work to build an open and trusting relationship with my clients. I also view the work of therapy through an attachment-based lens, and will utilize attachment-based interventions when apporpriate. When indicated I utilize concepts and interventions from Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy and Motivaitonal Interviewing.

What you can expect from me

Each session I strive to provide a safe container to process whatever is coming up for my clients. I give my clients the autonomy to lead our discussion around what feels most important to them at the time. We can spend our time talking, or for kids/teens who may prefer more of a play-therapy style, I can offer various virtual games and activities through which therapy can be conducted. At the end of the session I will generally provide a "take-home thought" to reflect on based on our work during session.
