Great to meet you!

I'm excited you're here! Therapy can be both a challenging and rewarding journey, and I would be honored to help you navigate it. I've been a licensed Marriage and Family therapist for three years and have been practicing therapy since 2017. I've worked in county based mental health systems for the duration of my post grad work to gain the most experience possible. I enjoy supporting my clients in working through a variety of issues such as trauma, anger, anxiety, depression, parenting issues, attachment, and interpersonal difficulties, among others. Together, we'll create a road map of what you want to address in therapy. From there, I will provide a person-centered approach and safe space with the intention of supporting you in the most rewarding work you can do: healing and caring for yourself. I would love to connect with you further. Please reach out when you're ready to take the next step!

My approach to therapy

In our therapeutic relationship, I view myself as the expert on therapy, and I consider you to be the expert on yourself. We both have a lot to contribute, and I like when sessions feel like a collaborative partnership, working together to identify the best options. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to help you identify underlying beliefs or thinking patterns and teach you skills to cope or reshape your beliefs. I utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to provide you with resources and skills to practice mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance. For families, I utilize Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) to help mend and strengthen the attachment between a child and a caregiver. I adjust my approach to best fit your needs. My hope is to empower you to rely on your strengths to manage arising problems, one step at a time. Together, we'll identify the steps that will help you work toward your goals.

What you can expect from me

In the first few sessions, we get to know each other. I explain how therapy works, we review any questions you have, and we discuss what brought you to therapy. I am not going to force you to talk about something you are not ready for. I encourage you to set boundaries so we progress through treatment at your pace. Once we have an idea of what brought you in and where the issues lie, we start developing goals. We may change these over time as you grow, which is great! Treatment is intended to adapt to your current needs. I do often encourage homework to help you practice certain skills or develop certain habits, whether or not you complete the homework will be up to you. I also encourage you to guide your session to ensure you get what you need out of it. If you aren't sure, don't worry! I can guide us whenever needed. If you have any requests, please let me know!
