Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Katherine Madsen, a licensed marriage and family therapist in California who works with both teens and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, and life transitions. I use EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients heal from past experiences and build a stronger sense of self. Whether you’re a teen facing friendship struggles or school pressure, or an adult feeling stuck in old patterns, therapy can be a space to feel seen and supported. I’m trained in EMDR and currently pursuing certification to deepen my work. If you’re looking for a grounded, compassionate therapist to walk alongside you, I’d be honored to connect.

My approach to therapy

Working with me feels supportive, collaborative, and deeply personalized. I show up with warmth, curiosity, and a trauma-informed approach that helps you feel safe to explore what’s really going on underneath the surface. Whether we're using EMDR, parts work, or just talking things through, I’ll help you connect the dots and move toward healing at your own pace. Clients often say they feel seen, less alone, and more in touch with themselves after our sessions. I’m not here to “fix” you—I’m here to help you trust and understand yourself more fully.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect to walk away with a deeper understanding of themselves, practical tools to manage stress and emotions, and a greater sense of self-compassion. Many people begin to notice shifts in how they relate to their thoughts, their relationships, and their past. Through EMDR and parts work, we gently untangle what’s been keeping them stuck and create space for new ways of being. Whether it’s feeling more grounded, confident, or connected, the goal is lasting change—not just quick fixes.
