Great to meet you!

Welcome! I am a bilingual licensed mental health counselor in the state of New York. I received my Masters from Teachers College, Columbia University with a concentration in Bilingual/Latinx Mental Health in 2017. I help children, teens, and adults overcome anxieties and build stronger senses of selves. I founded Canela Counseling to provide trauma-informed and culturally responsive care to underrepresented communities.

My approach to therapy

My approach with adults is collaborative. While I may be well-versed in mental health, you are the expert of your life. I will include your strengths, values, and my evidence-based tools into your treatment to help you achieve the lifestyle and relationships that you desire.

My approach with children is community-oriented. I believe in the African proverb, "It takes a village to raise a child." I collaborate with parents, teachers, and doctors to provide holistic care for a child's emotional needs.

What you can expect from me

My goal is to create a space where you feel heard and confident to express yourself, unlearn generational and societal patterns that no longer serve you, and practice the skills you need to improve your emotional wellbeing. If you're interested in working together, I welcome you to book a call with me to help you determine if we're a good fit. Thank you!
