Great to meet you!

Welcome! I'm Kate, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with over 15 years of experience helping individuals navigate life's challenges and build meaningful change. I earned my Master of Social Work from Boston College and have worked in a variety of settings, including schools, outpatient mental health, crisis intervention, and community-based services.

I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, grief, and trauma. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable being themselves while exploring challenges and developing practical tools for growth. I believe that therapy should be personalized, collaborative, and empowering, helping clients gain insight, build resilience, and move toward the life they want to live.

My approach to therapy

I take a warm, compassionate, and collaborative approach to therapy. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in creating meaningful change. My style is conversational and supportive while also helping clients challenge unhelpful patterns and develop new skills. I also believe humor can be a powerful therapeutic tool, helping clients feel comfortable, build connection, and find moments of lightness even during difficult conversations.

I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based interventions, and strengths-based practices. Together, we will identify goals, explore barriers, and develop strategies that fit your unique needs and circumstances. Whether you're seeking support for anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, relationship concerns, or major life transitions, I strive to provide practical tools alongside deeper self-understanding.

What you can expect from me

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a foundation for our work together. My goal is to create a welcoming, comfortable environment where you feel heard and understood.

During our first meeting, we'll discuss what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, relevant background information, and what you hope to gain from the therapeutic process. We'll explore your strengths, identify initial goals, and begin developing a plan that feels realistic and meaningful to you. There is no pressure to share everything at once—therapy moves at a pace that feels comfortable. Most importantly, you can expect a supportive, collaborative space where your experiences are respected and your goals remain at the center of our work together.
