Great to meet you!

"Hi! My name is Katherine Elaine Schoech, PhD, LPC, but please feel free to call me Kathy. I’ve been a counselor for over 20 years, and have a PhD in clinical psychology and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. My favorite part of this work is helping adults and seniors find their footing again during tough times. Whether you’re carrying the weight of anxiety and depression, feeling overwhelmed by your emotions, or just feeling stuck on a big life decision, I’m here to walk through it with you. I have a lot of experience helping people navigate trauma, PTSD, ADHD, and the challenges of substance use. Mostly, I want you to know that you don’t have to figure it all out alone - we’ll work together at your pace to help you feel like yourself again."

My approach to therapy

I believe in a holistic approach focusing on the mind-body connection. Often, emotional "parts" take over during stress, making us feel out of control. I’ll help you understand these dynamics so you can live with intention. My work is grounded in evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, and Motivational Interviewing.

What you can expect from me

The first session is usually an intake to gather information. I look at the first session as more than identifying symptoms or making a diagnosis, but a chance for you to tell your life story, be heard and validated in a safe and confidential setting. By focusing on your unique strengths and goals, we work together to enhance your overall well-being and foster lasting healing for whatever difficulties you may be facing."
