Great to meet you!

Katherine Wheeler is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and TBRI® Practitioner dedicated to helping children, families, and caregivers heal, connect, and grow. She earned her Master of Social Work from the University of New England and brings a compassionate, neuroscience-informed approach to her work with clients.

Rooted in the belief that every individual is a treasure, Katherine approaches each person and family with curiosity, respect, and care. Her work centers on the idea that connection creates change — helping clients understand how trauma, stress, and relationship patterns shape their stories, and guiding them toward safety, trust, and regulation.

Her style is relational, grounded, and intentional, blending evidence-based interventions with genuine warmth and presence. At Connected Treasures, Katherine partners with families to interrupt cycles of intergenerational trauma, strengthen attachment, and create spaces where both children and adults can thrive.

My approach to therapy

Katherine’s approach to therapy is relational, experiential, and individualized. She believes healing happens through safe, attuned connection — and that every person already holds the capacity for growth within themselves.

Her work integrates several evidence-based and experiential models, including:

  • Attachment-based and TBRI® principles, helping clients strengthen trust, felt safety, and connection in their relationships.
  • Play therapy, using creativity, movement, and symbolic expression to help children and families process experiences that words alone can’t reach.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS), guiding clients to compassionately understand and integrate the different parts of themselves.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), supporting practical skill-building and reframing of thoughts and patterns that no longer serve.
  • Sensory-rich and body-based interventions, using rhythm, movement, and sensory awareness to help regulate the nervous system and build resilience.

Katherine’s sessions are warm, collaborative, and adaptive — blending structure with flexibility to meet clients exactly where they are. Her goal is to create a space where individuals and families feel seen, safe, and empowered to grow.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a gentle beginning — a chance for us to get to know each other and start building safety and trust. I’ll invite you to share what brought you here and what you’d like life to look and feel like moving forward. There’s no pressure to have all the words or answers; we move at your pace.

Together, we’ll explore your current challenges and identify the areas where you’re hoping for change or support. I’ll explain how therapy works, answer your questions, and outline what our time together might include — whether that’s play-based exploration, attachment-focused conversation, sensory experiences, or structured tools like CBT.

Because every individual is a treasure, I tailor the process to fit each person’s unique story and nervous system. You can expect warmth, curiosity, and an environment where your whole self — thoughts, emotions, and body — are welcomed and understood.
