Great to meet you!

I understand talking to a stranger about your inner most thoughts and feelings is difficult and weird at first. Congrats on taking this first step. Welcome! My name is Kathleen Frank. Therapy with me isn’t about slapping a coping skill on top of stress and calling it a day (though we’ll absolutely build skills). It’s about understanding why your nervous system is over stimulated, where that reaction comes from, and how to respond to your life with more clarity, flexibility, and self-compassion.

I’m a licensed counselor with about 14+ years of experience, currently licensed in Texas (LPC #67496), New York (LMHC #012534), Colorado (LPC #0017504), Florida (LMHC #27334), and also a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC #344538). I’ve spent the last several years working in private practice and college mental health settings, helping people untangle patterns that no longer serve them.

My approach to therapy

My approach: flexible, depth-oriented, and tailored to you. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. You bring your history, culture, relationships, trauma, strengths, and goals — and therapy should actually reflect that.

My work is insight-oriented and depth-focused, drawing from psychodynamic, relational, and trauma-informed approaches to help understand how past experiences influence present patterns. I also move fluidly between approaches like EMDR, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Gestalt, and Psychodynamic therapy, depending on your needs. What does that mean in real life? Sometimes you want practical tools to calm anxiety, regulate emotions, or survive a rough season. Sometimes you want to understand why the same patterns keep showing up. When your goals shift, my approach shifts with you.

What you can expect from me

I see you as the expert on your own life. My role is to walk alongside you with curiosity, honesty, empathy, and a non-judgmental lens, while helping you connect the dots between past and present, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and build resiliency rooted in awareness and compassion.

A heads up about therapy: it can be annoying. The process can include a lot of vulnerable, sometimes uncomfortable conversations — about memories, relationships, identity, emotions, behaviors, and beliefs you may have spent a long time avoiding. Growth doesn’t happen by staying comfortable. It happens when we feel supported enough to look at what’s hard — and brave enough to do something different with it. Strength doesn't always look loud; sometimes it looks like showing up, again - steady, honest, and a little tired.

*** Please note, typically my intakes are limited to Tuesday mornings at 9:00 AM CST. This structure helps reduce scheduling conflicts between new and current clients. Additional availability may be added throughout the week and month as openings arise. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
