Great to meet you!

I really enjoy working with all kinds of clients. My training was medically oriented social work at first and after getting my Masters at Norfolk State, I worked at Children's Hospital in Norfolk, VA. Moving to private practice allowed me an opportunity to have some longer therapeutic relationships and see the gradual process of therapy at work.

Trauma and abuse work has always been an interest and focus for me in therapy. Depression, anxiety, core self worth issues, active duty and veterans, and women's health and issues are all areas in which I truly have an interest and focus.

I work with men, women, and transgender clients ages 15 and up. I am LGBTQ supportive.

My approach to therapy

I believe in the process of therapy. Having practiced for awhile now, I have been able to see the gradual process and the amazing resilience and capacity to grow that people have. Strength based therapy is the foundation of all my interventions, believing that people encompass the strengths to overcome obstacles and challenges within their lives. Therapy should be a safe, comfortable space to learn to deal with feelings, emotions, and thoughts. A place to be honest and genuine and to learn ways to improve communication and expression.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a time to meet with one another and talk about what brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from the therapeutic process. We can set some flexible goals and talk about how to get what you need from therapy. It is also a place to see if the connection works for us both so we have a good place to begin.
