Great to meet you!

I've been a musician all my life. I was singing on a cruise ship (at age 40) when I asked myself: "What ELSE is important to me?" The answers? "How does our "root" programming create our behaviors, choices and beliefs? And can we learn to expand our choices beyond that programming?"

Those queries led to an MA in Music Therapy, an MS in Counseling/Human Development, and a 20-year career (so far) as a Licensed Professional Counselor. I'm trained in trauma therapies and Expressive Therapies.

My approach to therapy

My style is collaborative. I like to normalize the shame inherent in trauma. I like to respect YOUR timing and pace to "get to the root of problems". I'm trained in EMDR and have a "Somatic Experiencing Practitioner" (SEP) certificate. I'm certified by the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Therapists as a CSAT (Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist). I also love using expressive therapies to assist clients in approaching a realistic sense of Wholeness.

What you can expect from me

After the first couple of sessions, clients and I establish a plan to address areas of struggle and specific goals. You can expect homework. You can expect to feel heard, supported and cared for at every stage of your counseling experience: Intake, treatment planning, processing emotions, exploring roots of unhelpful patterns, assessing progress, and deciding when we're finished. Therapy can be painful at times, but it MUST include being able to relax and have fun as well.
