Great to meet you!

I am a very passionate person in every aspect of my life. I do keep very busy with my husband and 3 kids, two businesses, and the never-ending house project. I like to garden, lift weights, bake cakes, and organize things! Mostly, I like to spend as much time with my family as I can ... you might catch me online on the weekends playing video games with my kids. We also like to camp, swim, jump on the trampoline, mini-golf, and ride bikes. In my spare time, I tend to binge watch TV shows that have at least 3 seasons, and I love movies (especially from the 90s!)

Professionally, I have been helping people sleep better since 2002. I am a Licensed Psychologist (IL) and a Registered Sleep Technologist (RPSGT). While I offer therapy for insomnia and circadian rhythm disorders, my sleep center conducts sleep studies and supplies CPAP. We can help you with all your sleep needs.

My approach to therapy

Most of my clients have experienced chronic or acute insomnia, but simply cannot get out of the insomnia cycle on their own. They have heard all of the tips and tricks, but nothing seems to help. In order to make realistic recommendations that work, I start by learning about everything that may be affecting your sleep. I am thorough for a reason! If easy worked, you would be sleeping well and you wouldn't need me.

Unlike many sleep therapists, I do not use the same approach with every client. Instead, I customize the treatment options to your needs. Tell me all about you, and I will help you learn to sleep better and feel better. This may result in a one or more of the following therapy structures:

  • Brief, Solution-Focused Behavioral Sleep Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi)
  • Cognitive Therapy for Anxiety and other co-morbidities
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Regardless of my treatment approach, my focus will always be on educating you about your sleep and health. I feel that once you understand "why" or "how" something affects you, you will be more successful in making the change to improve your situation.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, I spend a great deal of time gathering information about your situation. This will allow me to give you realistic recommendations that you can implement immediately! My clients generally leave the first session armed with new strategies to improve their sleep along with the confidence that we will be able to make long-lasting changes to improve their sleep and overall well being.
