Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Kathryn, a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner providing virtual psychiatric evaluations and medication management to adolescents ages 13–17, adults, and older adults throughout Arizona. I work with anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, sleep concerns, trauma-related symptoms, PTSD, panic symptoms, and mood disorders.

Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I spent more than 13 years in nursing, including inpatient psychiatry, psychiatric crisis care, medical-surgical nursing, and neurology. I offer Saturday and Sunday appointments, including early-morning and evening availability. Same-day weekend appointments may sometimes be available.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, practical, thorough, and collaborative. I look at the whole picture, including symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, sleep, stress, daily functioning, previous treatment, and your goals, before recommending medication. I explain the options, expected benefits, possible risks, and alternatives clearly, then work with you to create an individualized, evidence-based plan.

My role is psychiatric evaluation and medication management rather than ongoing psychotherapy. With written permission, I can coordinate with therapists, primary care clinicians, and other members of your treatment team. For adolescents, I involve parents or guardians appropriately while making sure the young person is heard and included in decisions.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment is approximately 60 minutes by secure video. We will review your current concerns, daily functioning, medical and psychiatric history, current medications, previous treatment, safety, and goals. When clinically useful, we may also review outside records or information from a parent or guardian, therapist, school, primary care clinician, or another member of your treatment team.

You will leave with a clear understanding of my assessment and next steps. The plan may include starting, continuing, or adjusting medication; obtaining additional information or testing; coordinating care; or recommending a different level or type of treatment when that would be safer or more effective.
