Great to meet you!

  • I have a nonjudgmental stance and I don’t shy away from the hard topics. So if you have a heavy topic that it feels difficult to talk about (such as deep depression, substance use, psychosis, shame), let’s connect.
  • I have worked for 15 years in the mental health field - 7 of those years as a licensed therapist and licensed addiction counselor. I have worked in many different settings (group homes, hospital, in-home services, traditional therapy) and with many different kinds of people, so I have seen a bit of everything. I have additional expertise with: depression, nonsuicidal self injury, psychosis, gender identity, and punks/goths/gamers.
  • I have a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Colorado and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University in Colorado.

My approach to therapy

People find me warm and easy to open up to. I build strong relationships with clients - and then use that safe relationship to explore the topics YOU want to focus on. I come to sessions curious and with questions and ideas, so we can stay on track and avoid just reviewing your week. I use techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to delve into what is happening behind the scenes (such as the automatic thoughts and assumptions that are affecting your behaviors). My core beliefs, which drive my practice: I believe everyone can recover and I believe everyone deserves to experience joy and fulfillment in their life, however that looks to them.

What you can expect from me

As we get started, I will be curious about the big picture of your life. It can be daunting, feeling like you need to fill me in on everything, so I try to ask some tailored questions to gather the background info we need without re-traumatizing or feeling bogged down. We will identify some concrete goals early on, so we will have a roadmap of where we're going moving forward.
