Great to meet you!
Hi, I'm Katia Gilliam, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from American International College in Massachusetts.
With over 20 years of experience in the mental health and social services field, I’ve had the privilege of supporting children, teens, adults, and families across a variety of settings—including private practice, crisis intervention, school-based programs, community mental health clinics, detention centers, residential treatment, and social service agencies. My background also includes serving as an admissions program manager, operations manager, school-based therapist, and supervisor for the Department of Children and Families.
As a therapist, I specialize in providing individual therapy and emotional support to those navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, and behavioral concerns. I utilize a trauma-informed, person-centered approach and draw from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, and mindfulness techniques to meet clients where they are and support their unique goals.
I’m passionate about creating a safe and nonjudgmental space where you can feel seen, heard, and empowered. Whether you're working through past experiences or just trying to manage daily stressors, I’ll walk alongside you with compassion, encouragement, and practical tools to help you thrive.
Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our three children. I love recharging at the beach and exploring new tropical places—these moments of peace and adventure help keep me grounded and present.
If you’re ready to begin or continue your healing journey, I’m here and honored to be a part of it.
