Hello! My name is Katie and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol & Drug Counselor (LCADC) in the state of New Jersey with over 12 years of professional experience. I have helped a wide variety of clients in different settings with struggles like depression, anxiety, family conflict, homelessness, legal involvement, substance abuse and trauma.
I believe strongly in the power of a healing relationship between the therapist and client. My style is warm, inviting and not without humor. I will work with you to create and accomplish goals for your treatment. I use an eclectic approach to therapy; utilizing techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, Solutions Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
Above all, I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and that my role is to help you identify and utilize your own strengths and experiences to successfully navigate life's struggles.
The first session includes getting to know you and your story, figuring out how treatment can best assist you and the beginning of a very important therapeutic relationship.
