Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Katie Peterson. I hold a Bachelor's Degree from Maryville College with a degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice, as well as a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sam Houston State University.

My professional experience includes providing resources and care to low socioeconomic families, supporting human trafficking survivors, and working within a hospitalization program.

My approach to therapy

I believe that the counseling relationship is a critical element to the healing process. I will use the first session or two to get to know clients as a whole person. I use different techniques from person-centered counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Internal Family Systems therapy. Every individual is different so I tailor my approach to what will be most beneficial to the client.

What you can expect from me

It is important that clients feel in control of their treatment. It is up to you what our overall goals will look like. My goal for you is that you feel safe, and understood during therapy.
