Great to meet you!

My name is Katranker Thompson, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California with over 25 years of experience in the field of mental health. I earned my graduate degree from the Smith College School for Social Work in Northampton, Massachusetts.

I have dedicated my career to supporting individuals who find themselves at important crossroads in their lives. I work with adults from diverse backgrounds who are experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, grief, caregiver burnout, and life transitions. I also have experience working with Veterans and their loved ones around stress, anxiety, and adjustment challenges.

I believe therapy should feel safe, supportive, and collaborative. My goal is to meet you where you are, help you better understand your thoughts and emotions, and support you in building skills that improve your overall quality of life.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and client-centered. I believe that healing happens best in a space where you feel heard, respected, and understood. Together, we will explore the concerns bringing you to therapy and identify practical, meaningful goals that align with your values and needs.

I often integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to help clients recognize patterns in thoughts and behaviors, develop healthier coping strategies, and build emotional resilience. I tailor treatment to each individual, recognizing that no two people—or paths to healing—are the same.

Therapy is a partnership, and your insight, feedback, and participation play an important role in the process.

What you can expect from me

In your first session, you can expect a welcoming, supportive, and non-judgmental environment. We will spend time getting to know one another, discussing what brought you to therapy, and exploring what you hope to gain from our work together.

There is no pressure to share more than you are comfortable with. My focus is on helping you feel at ease while beginning to develop a clear understanding of your goals. By the end of the session, we will begin outlining a direction for therapy that feels manageable, supportive, and aligned with your needs.
