Great to meet you!

My name is Kayla Rodriguez and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in the Central Valley, California. I work with clients statewide via telehealth. I specialize in depression, anxiety, stress, and trauma in adults. I use Motivational Interviewing techniques as well as interventions/techniques of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, but have more extensive experience working with young adults with trauma and dual diagnosis of substance use.

I became a social worker, because I wanted to help people, but then I realized that I wanted to do more than link people to services. After a few years of doing social work, I realized that I wanted to help people become the change agent they needed. People have the catalyst for change within themselves, sometimes all they need is someone to show and cheer them on. I love empowering people to reach their goals and improve their mental health.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative with an emphasis on skill building, self-exploration, and symptom approach. I utilized a client-centered, strength based, trauma informed approach. The modalities I use are a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I also incorporate Solution-Focused techniques to assist clients in problem solving. The different modalities are tailored to the needs of each client to achieve their goals.

I like to create a space where people feel safe and comfortable by being genuine, empathetic, and curious- after all you are the expert of YOU. I use a blend of DBT communication style of reciprocal, matter-of-fact, and active listening.

What you can expect from me

A first session with me consists of discussing stressors, feelings, challenges, and all about you. We discuss what brings you into therapy and your overall goals. It’s a time when I get to hear all about you and how I could come alongside your journey to accomplish your goals.
