Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Kayla — a psychiatric nurse practitioner who believes mental health care should feel less like a cold appointment and more like a safe, genuine conversation. I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Missouri in 2023, but my journey started long before that — spending over six years as an ER nurse, learning the art of staying calm in chaos, and meeting people exactly where they are. While my expertise is in working with children and adolescents, I love partnering with individuals of all ages to help them navigate life’s challenges.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is compassionate, collaborative, and client-centered. I strive to create a safe, supportive space where individuals feel heard, respected, and empowered in their healing process. I believe in meeting clients where they are and working together to identify strengths, goals, and effective strategies for growth. I integrate evidence-based practices while honoring each person’s unique experiences, values, and cultural background, with a focus on fostering self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful change.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation designed to assess your current symptoms, relevant history, and treatment needs. We will review mental health and medical history, medications, and prior treatment experiences. Medication options may be discussed when appropriate, including risks, benefits, and alternatives. Based on this information, we will collaborate on an initial treatment plan that may include medication management, therapy recommendations, and other supportive interventions, with an emphasis on shared decision-making.
