Great to meet you!

I’m Kaylee Torno, MA, LPC, NCC, and the founder of WayForward Counseling & Consulting. I hold a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver and have over a decade of experience supporting individuals and families as a licensed therapist and professional school counselor.

I specialize in working with teens, young adults, and adults who are navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and emotional overwhelm. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or unsure of their next steps. My goal is to offer a compassionate, down-to-earth space where you can feel supported as you better understand yourself, build coping tools, and begin finding your way forward.

My approach to therapy

I believe meaningful growth happens when we feel truly seen, supported, and understood. My counseling style is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed — meeting you where you are while helping you take clear, intentional steps toward where you want to be.

Using a gentle yet practical approach, I draw from evidence-based practices including CBT, ACT, nervous system education, emotional regulation, self-compassion, and values-based work. Together, we work to uncover patterns, build self-trust, develop effective coping tools, and move through overthinking, self-doubt, perfectionism, and pressure without having to push harder, pretend everything is fine, or figure it all out alone.

What you can expect from me

Taking the first step toward counseling can feel uncertain, but it’s also an act of courage and self-care. Whether you’re new to therapy or returning after some time, I’m here to make the process feel comfortable, supportive, and collaborative from the beginning.

In our first session, we’ll talk through what brings you to therapy, what you hope to gain, and what support feels most helpful for you right now. I’ll ask questions to better understand your story, current challenges, strengths, and goals, while also making space for you to move at a pace that feels manageable. From there, we’ll begin creating a plan that fits your needs — whether that means working through specific challenges, building coping skills, strengthening self-trust, or finding more balance and clarity in your daily life.
