The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and determine whether we are a good fit. My goal is to create a comfortable, supportive environment where you can share as much or as little as feels right for you.
During our initial session, we'll discuss what brings you to therapy, the challenges you're currently facing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. I'll also ask questions about your personal history, relationships, mental health background, and any other factors that may be important to understanding your experiences. You do not need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say—it's completely okay if you're feeling unsure, overwhelmed, or nervous.
You'll also have the opportunity to ask questions about my style, the therapy process, and what ongoing work together might look like.
Many clients tell me they leave the first session feeling relieved to have a space where they can openly talk about what they've been carrying and with a clearer understanding of the path forward.
