Great to meet you!

If you are navigating mental health challenges, substance use, or any combination of life's struggles and you want to work with someone who truly understands that world, you are in the right place. I bring 30 years of clinical experience, including 28 years as an intensive case manager with the New York State Office of Mental Health and nine years in private practice. I hold both an LCSW-R and a Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) credential, which means I am trained to work with the full picture: anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, addiction, and the way these issues so often show up together. I also work with adults facing medical diagnoses that are beginning to affect their mental well-being or creating new patterns of stress and coping. My style is direct, honest, and steady. I do not avoid difficult conversations, but I approach them with genuine care and without judgment. Real progress happens when you feel both challenged and supported, and I bring both to every session.

My approach to therapy

I work collaboratively with you to identify what is not working, understand the patterns driving it, and build practical strategies for meaningful, lasting change. I draw on evidence-based methods, selecting the combination that fits your specific situation rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach. With deep experience in mental health, addiction treatment, and crisis intervention, I am comfortable working with complex, multi-layered situations, including when substance use and mental health are happening simultaneously or when a physical health challenge is creating new emotional or behavioral struggles. My focus is goal-oriented and practical: I want each session to leave you with clearer thinking, actionable insight, and a realistic sense of what comes next. Whether the goal is short-term stabilization and getting connected to the right level of support, or longer-term work to create sustained change, we define the path together based on what you actually need.

What you can expect from me

You can expect a welcoming, structured, and judgment-free conversation. We will start by getting to know each other. What brings you to therapy, what has been getting in the way, and what you want to be different. I will ask about your current concerns, your history, and any stressors affecting your life, whether those involve mental health, substance use, or major life transitions. I am direct and collaborative in how I work: I will offer early observations and honest perspective while listening closely to yours. By the end of our first session, you will leave with a clear sense of what we will focus on, what our work together will look like, and confidence that you are working with someone who has seen a great deal and can help you find your way forward.
