I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a National Certified Counselor and working to become a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor. I graduated from Syracuse University with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Addiction and I am pursing a PHD in Counseling and Counselor Education. My training, interpersonal skills and cultural awareness allow me to foster alliances with clients of varying cultural identities and diagnoses.
I utilize evidence-based treatment methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy supplemented by other interventions that meet client needs such as motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy and solution focused therapy. Over the years, I have been privileged to discharge a number of clients that have achieved their treatment goals, and I also enjoy supporting clients over the long term as their goals and objectives evolve.
I love being a counselor and aspire to help clients live in line with their goals and values. I work to ensure my clients feel heard, unconditionally accepted and validated in session, but also challenged to try new ways of thinking and behaving in order to work towards their goals. Clients can expect to recognize their values and strengths, identify and learn to utilize resources and discover ways to overcome or minimize barriers to achieving their goals.
