Great to meet you!

I have been working as a counselor, one-on-one with individuals and couples, for 17+ years. In that time, what has been most clear is that there is no such thing as the perfect person, the perfect relationship, the perfect life. Reframing the need for everything to be "just so" allows each of us to live a happier, healthier life.

My approach to therapy

Choosing a counselor is personal, and I believe feeling comfortable, understood, and genuinely supported matters. I strive to create a space that feels warm, welcoming, and grounded in trust — a place where you can show up exactly as you are, without fear of judgment. At the same time, I believe counseling should feel meaningful and productive. My approach is supportive and empowering, helping you better understand yourself, build on your strengths, and move toward lasting change.

I also believe growth happens when we feel accepted for who we are while being gently encouraged to look at patterns, perspectives, or obstacles that may be keeping us stuck. My style is compassionate, honest, and at times gently challenging — always with care, respect, and your goals in mind. Whether you’re facing a difficult season, feeling overwhelmed, navigating relationship struggles, or simply wanting life to feel different, my hope is that counseling becomes a place where you gain clarity, confidence, and practical tools for moving forward.

What you can expect from me

It’s completely normal to feel nervous before a first counseling appointment. Many people wonder, “What am I supposed to say?” or “Where do I even start?” The good news is — you don’t have to have it all figured out.

Before we meet, I’ll already have spent time reviewing your intake paperwork, including your background, concerns, and any questions you’ve shared. I come to our first session prepared, so you won’t feel like you’re starting from scratch.

Most first sessions feel more like a conversation than an interview. I usually begin by inviting you to tell me your story and what brings you in, in whatever way feels comfortable to you. I tend to listen more than talk at first because understanding your experiences, concerns, and goals matters. There’s no pressure to explain everything perfectly or cover your whole life story in one visit.

My hope is that you leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and a little less alone in whatever you’re carrying — with a clearer sense of what moving forward together could look like!
