Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Kelly Mayberry-Nelson, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor with designations in Nicotine Dependence and Gambling.

My professional background includes working with diverse populations across inpatient, outpatient, and community-based settings. Currently, I serve as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Clinical Administrative Manager at an outpatient drug and alcohol treatment facility, where I provide both individual and group counseling services while supporting clinical operations and program development. I also previously served as the assistant team leader on an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team, helping individuals with serious mental illnesses reduce hospitalizations and improve overall quality of life.

I am passionate about providing compassionate, person-centered care and helping clients build meaningful, sustainable change in their lives. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my Siamese cat, Austin, and caring for my collection of more than a dozen houseplants.

My approach to therapy

My approach is grounded in empathy, client-centered care, and the belief that meaningful change is possible with the right support.

I have experience supporting individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. I utilize evidence-based interventions like motivational interviewing, harm reduction, psychoeducation, and trauma-informed care.

In both my personal and professional life, I have also supported individuals through profound grief and loss. This work has given me deep insight into how grief impacts mental health, substance use, and daily functioning. I offer a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore the complex emotions that come with loss—whether sudden, prolonged, traumatic, or disenfranchised.

What you can expect from me

If you’re navigating complex challenges related to mental health, addiction, grief, or recovery, I aim to provide a supportive space where you feel heard, empowered, and equipped to move forward.
