Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Kellyn Swanson, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with eight years of experience supporting individuals through life’s challenges. After completing my undergraduate and graduate education in Pennsylvania, I returned home to New Jersey, where I was born and raised.

As someone who has personally experienced the benefits of therapy, I understand how meaningful it can be to find a therapist who feels like the right fit. I know the importance of working with someone who is open-minded, accepting, and willing to understand the complexities of your experiences without judgment. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive space where you feel comfortable being your authentic self while we work together toward the changes and growth you are seeking.

My approach to therapy

The client-therapist relationship is one of the most important elements of the therapeutic process. I believe meaningful change happens when you feel safe, understood, and accepted, and I strive to create a space built on empathy, unconditional acceptance, and a non-judgmental approach.

My therapeutic style is collaborative and individualized, meaning we will work together to identify your goals and develop strategies that best fit your needs and experiences. I draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Motivational Interviewing, among others, to help you better understand yourself, develop effective coping skills, and navigate the challenges you are facing.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, my focus will be on getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, and beginning to build a strong therapeutic relationship. I will ask questions about your current concerns, experiences, symptoms, strengths, and goals to gain a better understanding of your unique story and what you hope to accomplish through therapy.

I believe therapy is most effective when it is collaborative, and I utilize your strengths and personal goals to help guide our work together. My goal is to provide a safe and welcoming space where you feel comfortable exploring yourself, your experiences, and what a meaningful life looks like for you. Together, we will identify areas for growth, develop strategies that support your needs, and work toward the goals that matter most to you.
