Great to meet you!

Kelsey is a LCSW who has been in private practice for three years, following working in the school system and working at a non-profit agency. Kelsey received her BSW and MSW at FGCU. Kelsey enjoys working with individuals, adolescents and teens, and families. Kelsey was trained to work with diverse populations, as she has lived abroad and worked within rural communities and with populations of need in various countries. Kelsey specializes in working with abuse and neglect, survivors of sexual assault, and working to build healthy relationships in general. Kelsey utilizes solution-focused, motivational interviewing, client- centered, CBT, EMI, strength based and empowerment based approaches within sessions.

A bit about my approach to therapy

Kelsey approaches therapy with the understanding that the client is in charge of their journey. Kelsey respects the timeline and the courage of a client to challenge themselves in healing from past trauma and hurt. Kelsey will be direct and will challenge a client, but will also affirm and validate the boundaries they need to feel comfortable and safe to share vulnerably and to build trust. Kelsey empathizes with the challenges of disclosing painful truths from one's past or present, and believes there is no place for judgment in the walls of therapy. Kelsey's goal within her approach to therapy, is to support a client as they begin to believe in their abilities to steward action and make change, and be a voice of encouragement and validation that one may be missing in their life.

What you can expect from our first session

Kelsey believes that the client and clinician share each session and the interaction between them should foster respect, change, and reflection. A client can expect to feel heard and be seen by Kelsey, and to also feel capable of completing the goals they desire to set and achieve. Kelsey's hope is that each client takes a step towards freedom and healing in each session, and even when they feel stuck or lost, that they believe they are on the way to peace, by taking courageous steps forward each day.
