Great to meet you!

Hi my name is Ken Seeley. I am here to help you. I have been practicing as a therapist for a total of 14 years. I specialize in working to help clients age 18 and up with depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD and ADHD rise above their life situations, trauma by helping them learn to retrain their mind and body. I focus on helping you by giving you practical tools to help challenge your thinking a beliefs about yourself, changing behaviors that are not helpful while learning to intentionally continue to practice behaviors that are helpful and also helping you learn to regulate your body during stress and life circumstances. I love what I do and practice what I teach in my own life. I see adults. I do not do couples counseling at this time.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is that I strive to walk you down a path that you will one day walk by yourself. Though I use empathy and understanding, at the end of the day, I want to give you practical skills to help you work through and/or overcome life's problems whenever possible. I typically use CBT, DBT and self-regulation strategies along with helping you learn good self -care, set goals for your life and build healthy relationships. I use my own life experiences at times to help you understand the techniques and strategies. My main specialty is Christian counseling however; I also will use CBT techniques without a Christian perspective. I leave that completely up to you and will not pressure you to do one over the other. I use a specific method called MAPS and a framework (SPACE) using the previously described modalities of therapy.

What you can expect from me

I meet with you for your first session to complete a multimodal assessment that asking you why you come to therapy, your symptoms, and social, psychiatric/psychological, upbringing, risk assessment. I will ask you about your goals of therapy. I will tell you about myself and why I do what I do. I will then see if we are a good fit for each other. I try to be laid back in my sessions but serious at the same time. I will be empathetic and understanding while trying to collect this information to make appropriate diagnoses. I will ask you at the end of your session if you feel we are a good fit for each other and schedule you if applicable.
