Great to meet you!

When anxiety, depression, or stress has been part of your life for a long time, you may find yourself functioning on the outside while feeling increasingly overwhelmed on the inside. Relationships may become harder to navigate, anger can surface in ways you do not fully understand, or changes in mood may leave you feeling less like yourself. I work with adults, adolescents, and children experiencing difficulties due to anxiety, depression, stress management, relationship, life stage, and identity issues. With more than 30 years of experience, I understand that people rarely fit neatly into a single concern or diagnosis. Therapy can give us room to understand the fuller picture of what you are experiencing and work toward greater clarity, healthier relationships, and meaningful changes that fit your life.

My approach to therapy

Our work will make room for both what is happening in your life today and the experiences, relationships, emotions, and patterns that have shaped you over time. We’ll explore how anxiety, depression, stress management, relationship issues, and identity concerns may be affecting your emotional wellbeing and the way you relate to yourself and others. I may use cognitive approaches to help you recognize patterns in thoughts and behaviors that contribute to distress and develop healthier ways of responding, Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytic approaches to explore how earlier experiences and relationships may continue to influence your emotions and patterns today, and Humanistic Therapy to create a supportive environment where your individual experience remains at the center of our work. Play Therapy can provide younger clients with a natural way to communicate and work through emotions that may be difficult to express directly, while Person Centered approaches can give you space to explore your experiences at your own pace and with greater self understanding. Our work will be collaborative, thoughtful, and tailored to you rather than expecting you to fit into a predetermined version of therapy.

What you can expect from me

You do not need to arrive with a perfect explanation of what is wrong or know exactly what you want therapy to look like. During our first few sessions, we will spend time understanding what brought you here, the experiences and relationships that have shaped you, and what you would most like to change. Together, we will identify goals that feel meaningful and decide where it makes the most sense to begin. You can expect me to bring decades of clinical experience while still approaching your story with curiosity, openness, and respect for your individual perspective. Progress may look like understanding longstanding patterns more clearly, managing anxiety or depression more effectively, responding to stress in healthier ways, improving important relationships, or developing a stronger and more comfortable sense of yourself. We will continue evaluating what is helping and adjust our work as your needs evolve. When you are ready, you can schedule your first session with me through Headway.
