Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Kenny Spansel, a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) offering in person sessions in Gulfport, Mississippi and virtually throughout the state. I work with adults, couples, adolescents, and families facing concerns such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, family conflict, parenting challenges, trauma, and major life changes. I earned master’s degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy and Counseling & Biblical Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary, and I bring a warm, practical, and evidence-based approach to counseling. My goal is to provide a comfortable place where you can speak openly, better understand what you are facing, and develop practical steps toward meaningful and lasting change.

My approach to therapy

I believe counseling works best when you feel heard, understood, and comfortable being honest about what you are experiencing. My approach is warm, practical, and collaborative, using evidence-based strategies while taking time to understand you as a whole person and identify the goals that matter most to you. I help clients recognize patterns in their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and behaviors and develop practical tools that can lead to meaningful change both inside and outside of therapy. For clients who desire it, I am also comfortable integrating a Christian worldview and faith into the counseling process while always respecting each person’s individual beliefs and preferences.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin understanding what brings you to counseling. I strive to create a warm, comfortable, and judgment-free environment where you can share at your own pace without feeling pressured to have everything figured out. We will talk about what you are experiencing, what you would like to see change, and begin identifying practical goals for our work together. My hope is that you leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and with a clearer sense of where we can go from here.
