My philosophy is that therapy is for a season of advancement, finding direction, and then crossover into that next season with wisdom and more understanding. I am not the type of therapist where I want a child or an adult here indefinitely- yes there are people who have ongoing, continued traumas or disabilities and I am here for you to help navigate those- but most of my clients complete therapy within 3-6 months! I know that sounds hard to believe. For those with CPTSD many complete therapy after about a year. I am not a fan of being in therapy for 20 years and getting nowhere. In my opinion that is a waste of money and if you or your child is not advancing and conquering in their life - that therapy is not working. I like to see my clients crossover into joy and celebration, leveling up to the next phase of life. My goal is not for your PTSD, depression or anxiety to go away but I am working to introduce you to joy, peace, and vision that is sustainable throughout your life! I view therapy much like going to the doctor- you go when you need to but when you are well you don't continue to go and talk about the problem, unless it comes up again. I understand issues may return again- much like the common cold, and clients are welcome back again if needed, but many clients learn in therapy with me to learn about what happened, what your triggers are, empower yourself from your trauma responses and problem solve in a healthy and adaptive way that brings freedom, joy, peace and opportunity! I am also a therapist who has been in counseling at multiple seasons in my life and know what good therapy is, and what it isn't! My undergrad was in entertainment and I ended up in this field after paying it forward volunteering in recovery homes and working in a residential facility for a number of year. Several people urged me to be a therapist- which was never something I thought I would be interested in, or so I thought.
