Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Kevin Montiel and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I am a queer cis male of Latinx descent providing services to individuals 13+ with an emphasis on LGBTQIA+and BIPOC populations. I received my Master's in Social Work from Columbia University in 2021 where specialized in Advanced Clinical Practice. Treatments I utilize include cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal/psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based interventions, and harm reduction among others. All my approaches come from a place of both cultural competence and humility with an emphasis on anti-oppressive practices.

My approach to therapy

I look at everyone as a series of intersecting identities and the unique outcomes that come from that. I meet clients where they are at and keep my work client-centered, letting them decide where we are going in therapy. I am nondiagnostic, meaning I do not see people through mental health labels but instead holistically.

What you can expect from me

The first session consists of beginning to build our relationship and a formal assessment of physical, mental, and social factors present within your life. We will end the first session with planning out your treatment through us collaborating to discover what goals most align with you.
