Great to meet you!

My name is Keyonia Cattenhead, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Social Work, and I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration degree.

My professional experience includes extensive work in community mental health and private practice settings, where I have provided compassionate, evidence-based care to diverse populations. I specialize in the assessment and treatment of mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and trauma- and stressor-related disorders. My clinical approach focuses on creating a supportive and collaborative therapeutic environment that empowers individuals to develop resilience, improve emotional well-being, and achieve their personal goals.

As both a clinician and doctoral student, I am committed to lifelong learning, professional excellence, and integrating innovative approaches that enhance mental health services and support positive outcomes for the individuals and communities I serve.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach is client-centered, collaborative, and strengths-based. I believe that each individual possesses the capacity for growth and healing, and I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel empowered to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

I utilize evidence-based interventions tailored to each client's unique needs and goals, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness-based techniques. My work emphasizes helping clients develop healthy coping skills, improve emotional regulation, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and build resilience in the face of life's challenges.

What you can expect from me

During your first session, you can expect a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free environment where we will begin getting to know one another. The initial session is an opportunity for us to discuss what brings you to therapy, explore your current concerns, and review important aspects of your personal, emotional, and mental health history.

I will ask questions to gain a better understanding of your experiences, symptoms, strengths, support systems, and goals for treatment. This information helps me develop a personalized approach that is tailored to your unique needs and circumstances. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions, share any concerns about the therapy process, and discuss what you hope to achieve through counseling.
