Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Kieshara Matthews. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I attended the illustrious Norfolk State University where I obtained my Bachelor’s in Social Work in December 2019. I then gained my Master’s in Social Work at Fordham University in August 2020. October of 2020, I became a Qualified Mental Health Professional for adults and children. Prior to entering the field of Social Work, I worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant providing support to clients and their families. Even as a child I was known to be "mama bear," I have always strived to assit others in being happy, healthy and whole.

My approach to therapy

I provide a non-judgmental, client-centered, strength-based approach while offering a nurturing and safe environment. While utilizing therapeutic techniques from various treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Mindfulness I strive to help clients deal with self-esteem issues, anxiety, depression, imposter syndrome, boundary setting, financial distress, parenting needs, life transitions, and other issues that may arise.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect their first session with me to feel welcoming and pressure-free.

Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, so my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and respected from the very beginning. We’ll move at your pace. There’s no pressure to “have it all figured out” or share everything at once.

During our first session, we’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, and I’ll ask some gentle questions to better understand your history, your strengths, and what support looks like for you. This is also your time to ask me questions.

By the end of our first session, we’ll have a clearer picture of your goals and a plan for how we can work together moving forward. Whether you’re navigating stress, depression, life transitions, family challenges, or just feeling stuck, you don’t have to figure it out alone. If this sounds like a fit, contact me and let's get your first session scheduled!
