Great to meet you!

Welcome! My name is Kim DuBose. I received my MSW from Smith College's School for Social Work. I suppose that what I want you to understand most is "I see you." I know that therapy isn’t an easy endeavor. It will challenge you. There may be parts of you that are ambivalent about beginning therapy. Perhaps you’ve been wrestling with whether you should. If you have these ambivalent parts, it’s understandable and you are not alone in this. You simply have parts of yourselves that have been hurt, that are cautious and trying to protect you from further hurt.

My approach to therapy

I consider therapy to be sacred work. And, I am dedicated to providing affirming, sensitive, and competent care no matter your identity, gender, sex, shape, belief system, size, ability, persuasion, orientation or lived experience. I really want to know you and for you to know and value yourself and others.

As such, I specialize in working on attachment wounds and developmental trauma from an integrative approach, i.e. from Internal Family Systems to Narrative Therapy to Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, from individual to group therapy.

What you can expect from me

My ultimate goals as a therapist are two-fold: one, to help you cultivate your own innate and recoverable wisdom through curiosity about your parts and self-compassion; and two, to hold you accountable in your desire to be in kind and authentic relationship within yourself and with others.

In addition to individual therapy, I absolutely love facilitating group therapy and bearing witness to group members growing, connecting to, and supporting each other. It can be a magical experience. My hope is that building a relationship with me will facilitate clients' building a relationship in community with others. But no matter the modality, I practice therapy with curiosity, immersed with kindness.

In Loving Communion,

Kim
