Great to meet you!

I received my masters from the University of TN. I've been licensed & practicing since 1995. I work with individuals 18 and above dealing with mental health & substance use issues. I have worked in the outpatient arena for the past 15 yrs but have experience in the inpatient & intensive outpatient levels of care. I'm easy going & enjoy a good laugh but I'm professional & conscious of the fact we have work to do.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is that we all have mental health & sometimes it needs our attention. Like most health issues when ignored it tends to get worse. Mental health is an aspect of our "self" but not all that we are. I'm very happy to see that more people are aware of & attending to this important aspect of life. I view the therapy process as a team effort & you will be active in that process.

What you can expect from me

In the first few sessions we'll develop a map of how we'll get to your goals & have a rough idea of how long that will take. Periodically we'll review your progress & make modifications. You're very much a part of this process & can modify it any time. I use evidence based techniques & can teach coping skills that have been proven effective. I believe homework can be very helpful but you may or may not choose to use it.
