Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Kimberly Cole, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) with 13 years of experience supporting individuals through life's challenges. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship difficulties, trauma, and major life transitions. I also have experience supporting diverse populations, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, and understand that everyone's experiences and needs are unique. Reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, especially when you've been carrying difficult emotions or trying to make changes on your own. My goal is to create a compassionate, affirming, and judgment-free space where you feel comfortable being yourself. Together, we'll explore what's been weighing on you, recognize your strengths, and develop practical ways to help you feel more confident, supported, and hopeful about the future.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy works best when it is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs and goals. We'll explore how substance use, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and trauma may be affecting your life, while also considering how stress, family dynamics, identity, and major life transitions may shape your experiences. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you recognize unhelpful thought patterns and develop healthier ways of responding to difficult emotions. Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) helps you identify your strengths and turn your goals into manageable steps, while Motivational Interviewing supports you in exploring your readiness for change and building confidence in your decisions. I also incorporate Strengths-Based Therapy to help you recognize the personal resources you already possess, and Humanistic Therapy to create a supportive environment where you feel understood, respected, and empowered to explore your experiences. When appropriate, Seeking Safety offers practical tools for coping with trauma-related concerns and substance use while prioritizing emotional and personal safety. Our work will focus on building healthier coping strategies, strengthening relationships, and helping you move toward meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.

What you can expect from me

Starting therapy can feel unfamiliar, especially if you're unsure what to expect or how to begin. Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss what brings you to therapy, and explore what you hope to accomplish. I'll listen to your experiences, concerns, and goals so we can develop an approach that feels comfortable and meaningful to you. You can expect a warm, affirming environment where you can speak openly without fear of judgment. Together, we'll identify realistic goals and build on your strengths as we work through challenges. As therapy progresses, we'll focus on practical strategies to manage anxiety and stress, navigate difficult emotions, strengthen relationships, and work toward healthier patterns around substance use when relevant to your goals. My goal is for you to feel heard, supported, and empowered as you develop greater self-understanding and confidence in your ability to create lasting, positive changes.
