Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Kim, and I'm so glad you're here. I know that reaching out for support can take a lot of courage, and I want to honor that first step you're taking.

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and centered on your unique story and your personal goals. Whether you're navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, or just feeling stuck, I'm here to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported.

I have a Masters in Professional Counseling and am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have been trained in EMDR, CBT, and DBT, and I work with adults of all ages and adolescents. My years of working as a school counselor give me a unique persepctive on working with adolescents ages 12-18.

If you’re ready to begin or even just curious about what therapy could look like, I am here to help.

My approach to therapy

Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, and different approaches can help in different ways. Two effective and evidence-based methods I may use in our sessions are EMDR and CBT.

EMDR is a powerful approach often used to help people heal from trauma, distressing memories, or overwhelming life experiences. The goal is to help your brain reprocess these memories in a way that reduces their emotional charge, so they no longer feel as disturbing or overwhelming.

In EMDR, we’ll briefly focus on a troubling memory while using bilateral stimulation (usually eye movements, tapping, or sounds that move from left to right). This process helps the brain “reprocess” the memory so it feels more distant, less intense, and easier to live with. You don’t need to talk in detail about the memory if you’re not ready—that’s one of the things many people appreciate about EMDR.

CBT focuses on the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It’s especially helpful for issues like anxiety, depression, and stress.

In CBT, we’ll explore how certain patterns of thinking may be contributing to how you feel. You’ll learn practical tools to challenge unhelpful thoughts and replace them with more balanced, realistic ones. We’ll also look at behavior—what you do in response to thoughts and feelings—and gently work toward healthier patterns. CBT is collaborative and skills-focused, giving you strategies you can apply in everyday life.

What you can expect from me

In a first session with me, we will take time to get to know each other and what brings you to therapy. We take a collaborative approach to setting goals and discovering how to meet your needs. A first session with me leaves you with some tools or resources that you can use to start feeling better immediately.
