Great to meet you!

I bring over three decades of nursing experience to my psychiatric practice, with a career path shaped by listening to what patients truly needed. Throughout my 33 years as a nurse, I've worked across diverse healthcare settings, with extensive experience caring for children and adolescents.

My specialized training includes certification as a Student Assistance Coordinator for drug and alcohol use, certification as a school nurse, experience with eating disorders, and experience working in triage at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). These roles gave me firsthand insight into the mental health challenges facing young people and families.

After earning my Family Nurse Practitioner degree, I noticed a troubling pattern: countless patients couldn't access psychiatric care and were receiving psychotropic medications from primary care providers who, like me at the time, had limited psychiatric training. I realized that to truly serve these patients well, I needed more specialized knowledge. This drove me to return to school to become a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

This journey gives me a unique perspective—I understand both primary care and psychiatric care deeply, and I'm particularly attuned to the medication management needs of patients who have struggled to find appropriate mental health support. My extensive pediatric background makes me especially comfortable working with children, adolescents, and families navigating mental health needs.

My approach to therapy

I believe in treating the whole person, not just symptoms. Mental health doesn't exist in isolation—it's deeply connected to your physical health, lifestyle, relationships, sleep, nutrition, and daily habits. My approach is holistic, considering all the factors that contribute to your wellbeing.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin understanding what brings you to care. This initial session typically lasts 60-90 minutes and is focused on gathering comprehensive information to develop the right treatment plan for you.

For parents bringing children or adolescents, I'll want to hear from both you and your child (in age-appropriate ways) to understand the full picture. Given my background as a school nurse and Student Assistance Coordinator, I'm experienced in making young people feel comfortable opening up.

This is also your chance to ask questions about my approach, treatment options, and what ongoing care would look like. I want you to feel comfortable and confident that we're a good fit.

By the end of our first session, we'll work together to create an initial treatment plan, which may include medication management, lifestyle recommendations, referrals for therapy if needed, or other interventions tailored to your specific situation.

Please bring a list of current medications, any relevant medical records, and insurance information. Most importantly, come ready to be honest about your struggles—there's no judgment here, only support.
