Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Kimberly Ulrich, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who is passionate about supporting children and adolescents as they navigate life’s challenges. The majority of my professional experience has been working with students in school settings, where I have gained a strong understanding of the social, emotional, and academic pressures that can affect a child’s mental health and overall well-being.

I specialize in supporting children and early adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, emotional regulation difficulties, and challenges with self-esteem and peer relationships. I have a strong understanding of child and adolescent development and the unique needs, milestones, and challenges that arise at each stage. This perspective allows me to tailor my approach to each child’s developmental level and individual needs.

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and developmentally appropriate. I strive to create a safe, welcoming space where children feel heard, understood, and comfortable expressing themselves. I believe in helping children recognize their strengths, develop healthy coping skills, build confidence, and navigate challenges with greater resilience. I truly love working with children and feel passionate about helping them grow emotionally, build meaningful connections, and thrive.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to each child’s developmental stage and individual needs. I believe that building a trusting relationship is the foundation of effective therapy, and I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where children feel heard, understood, and comfortable expressing themselves.

With my background working with students in school settings, I understand the social, emotional, and academic challenges that children and early adolescents may face. I focus on helping children better understand their emotions, develop healthy coping strategies, manage anxiety and depression, strengthen self-esteem, and navigate relationships with peers and family.

I believe in meeting children where they are developmentally and using age-appropriate approaches to help them build emotional awareness, confidence, and resilience. When appropriate, I also value collaborating with parents and caregivers to help reinforce skills and provide consistent support outside of therapy. My goal is to empower each child with the tools they need to navigate challenges, recognize their strengths, and feel more confident in themselves and their ability to manage life’s ups and downs.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, my goal is to help you and your child feel comfortable, welcomed, and supported. I understand that starting therapy can feel overwhelming or unfamiliar, especially for children, so I strive to create a safe, relaxed environment where your child can feel at ease and get to know me at their own pace.

We will spend time getting to know your child, learning about their strengths, interests, concerns, and what may be bringing them to therapy. I will ask questions to better understand their experiences, emotional needs, and any challenges they may be facing at home, at school, or with peers. Depending on your child’s age and comfort level, I may also spend time speaking with you as the parent or caregiver to gain a broader understanding of your child’s needs and goals.

I believe therapy should be a collaborative process, and I want both you and your child to feel heard and involved. Together, we will begin identifying goals and exploring ways to help your child manage emotions, develop healthy coping skills, build confidence, and navigate life’s challenges. Most importantly, there is no pressure for your child to share everything right away. Building trust takes time, and my priority is to help your child feel safe, understood, and supported as we begin this journey together.
