About Me

Shawn received her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a psychoanalytic discipline from Northwestern University and an LPC. She holds a Certification as an Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC), is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), is a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS), and her NCC. Shawn speaks throughout Georgia on the neurological effects of the traumatized brain and innovative techniques on trauma treatment. Specifically, Shawn has been trained in Level Two EMDR techniques and utilizes this in her practice. She is active in the LGBT community and in the ALGBTIC professional organization.

As a trauma survivor, Shawn has dedicated her life's work to helping others with trauma, allowing them to realize their full potential without shame, self-blame, criticism and negativity. Using mindfulness, grounding and attachment analysis techniques, Shawn assists clients in moving past trauma and addiction.

Shawn’s counseling approach is based on acceptance, safety, and nonjudgment. She believes in allowing clients the space to take life’s challenges and turn them into opportunities for growth and personal development. Through complete acceptance, Shawn is able to relate and walk with clients as they become self-aware and strengthen as individuals.
