Great to meet you!

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to review my profile. I have extensive experience working with survivors in the domestic violence and sexual abuse/sexual assault fields and have worked primarily with adult women (17 yrs+ ). I've worked and lived in both Hawaii (I am dual licensed) and in the SF Bay Area (Northern CA) and have ties to both areas. I enjoy it when I've changed a client's mind about what client can look like; it can absolutely be engaging, interesting and down to earth!

A bit about my approach to therapy

I have received training in IFS (Internal Family Systems) and EMDR (first level training). I have over 27 years working with domestic violence survivors. I approach everything from a strength based and trauma-informed view. I find looking at how some of the challenges clients face might have been influenced by societal norms, culture and family are important, so these are always issues I keep in mind (feminist aware, psycho-dynamic and culturally sensitive).

What you can expect from our first session

I am an eclectic therapist. Simply put, "One size fits all" does not work for me. Every client is unique, therefore every problem and every goal will look different. I see the therapeutic relationship as a partnership and collaboration between the therapist and client. I like to find reachable but meaningful goals, and enjoy finding creative ways to make them happen. I use real life examples and think real-talk between the therapist and client often results in the best outcomes.
