Great to meet you!

I’m Kirsten Sparks, LCSW. I’m a trauma-informed, EMDR-certified therapist with a Master’s degree in Social Work from Marshall University. I’ve worked with children, teens, and adults, and have experience helping people navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, life transitions, and other challenges that can make life feel difficult to navigate.

I especially enjoy helping people better understand themselves and the experiences that have shaped them while finding practical ways to move forward. I provide telehealth therapy and believe finding a therapist you feel comfortable with is an important part of the process.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, supportive, and collaborative. I want you to feel comfortable being honest and know that you’re not going to be judged. We’ll work together to understand what you’re going through, identify what you want to change, and find practical ways to move forward.

I’m trauma-informed and EMDR certified, and I use approaches such as EMDR, CBT, ACT, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness depending on what fits your needs. I don’t believe therapy should be one-size-fits-all. You’re the expert on your own life, and my role is to provide support, guidance, and tools while we work toward your goals together.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is about getting to know each other and giving you space to talk about what brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about what’s been going on, what you’d like to be different, and what you hope to get from therapy.

But I also want to get to know you, not just the reason you’re seeking therapy. Building rapport is important to me, so I want to learn about your life, your relationships, your personality, and the things that matter to you. You don’t have to come in with everything figured out or know exactly what you want to talk about. My goal is to create a comfortable, judgment-free environment where you can be yourself and we can begin building a genuine therapeutic relationship.
