Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Kirstin Opgenorth, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who helps individuals navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, stress, and substance use. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, stuck in old patterns, or unsure how to move forward after a difficult experience, you don’t have to figure it all out alone. Therapy can be a place to slow down, better understand yourself, and begin making sense of what you’ve been carrying.

My approach is warm, open-minded, and focused on understanding you as a whole person, not just your symptoms. I believe meaningful change begins when you feel safe enough to explore your experiences without judgment. Together, we’ll work to understand the patterns that may be holding you back, build on your existing strengths, and develop practical tools to help you feel more grounded, confident, and connected to the life you want to create.

My approach to therapy

I view therapy as a partnership. You are the expert on your own experiences, and my role is to provide guidance, support, and tools to help you navigate whatever feels difficult right now. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-focused approaches, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Motivational Interviewing, and strengths-based techniques to tailor our work to your individual needs and goals.

Together, we’ll explore how past experiences, thought patterns, emotions, and behaviors may be affecting your life today. We’ll also focus on building healthier coping strategies, processing difficult experiences at a pace that feels comfortable, and creating meaningful changes that extend beyond our sessions. My goal is to help you feel empowered to understand yourself more deeply and move forward with greater clarity and resilience.

What you can expect from me

Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if you’ve been carrying a lot on your own or aren’t sure where to begin. Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other, discuss what brought you to therapy, and explore what you hope will change. You don’t need to have all the answers or know exactly how to explain what you’re feeling. We’ll take things one step at a time.

You can expect a warm, down-to-earth, and judgment-free space where your experiences and goals matter. Together, we’ll begin identifying what feels most important to work on and discuss how therapy can support you. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the possibility of change, with a clearer sense of the next steps we can take together.
