Great to meet you!

  • I’m Kizito Mbaekwe, a board-certified psychiatric mental health provider. My background in critical care taught me to listen closely, look at the whole person, and stay present with people during difficult moments. I bring that same care to every mental health visit. If you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood changes, trauma-related symptoms, or sleep difficulties, you deserve a space where you feel heard and understood. I’ll take time to learn what you’re experiencing and what matters to you. Together, we’ll build a thoughtful treatment plan that may include medication, therapy, and practical changes that support your well-being.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based care. I begin by listening to your story your concerns, strengths, experiences, and what you hope will change. We’ll consider how your physical health, sleep, relationships, and daily stress affect your emotional well-being.

Together, we’ll create a treatment plan that fits your needs and preferences. When medication is appropriate, I explain the options, benefits, and possible side effects so you can make informed decisions. I also incorporate supportive conversations, practical coping strategies, and collaboration with your therapist when helpful.

We’ll review your progress and adjust your care along the way, with goals that matter to your everyday life.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a chance to feel heard and begin making sense of what you’ve been experiencing. I create a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where you can share at your own pace.

You don’t need to have the right words we’ll work through it together.

We’ll discuss your concerns, medical and mental health history, medications, sleep, and how your symptoms affect daily life. I’ll also ask about your strengths, support system, and what you hope to change.

Together, we’ll identify meaningful goals and discuss treatment options that fit your needs and preferences. My goal is for you to leave with a clearer understanding of your concerns and an initial plan, including next steps and follow-up. When more assessment is needed, I’ll explain why and guide you through the process.
