Great to meet you!

Meet Kory Labbe, M.Ed., LPC, NCC – Freedom Counseling

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks and over five years of experience helping individuals and families find healing and hope. In addition to my state license, I am a Nationally Board Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors and a Certified Brainspotting Practitioner, reflecting my commitment to both professional excellence and advanced therapeutic training.

My work focuses on trauma care, suicide prevention, and supporting people through life’s most difficult transitions. Living and practicing in Alaska has given me a deep respect for the resilience of our communities as well as the unique challenges we face. I provide a safe, supportive space where you can be heard, understood, and equipped with tools for lasting change.

I bring a blend of evidence-based practices, Brainspotting techniques, and a warm, down-to-earth style. Therapy with me is practical and personal—it’s about giving you strategies for the future while also walking alongside you in the present.

Most of all, I want clients to know they don’t have to face life’s challenges alone. There is strength in reaching out, and healing is possible.

My approach to therapy

My counseling style is both practical and innovative. I believe real change comes from combining down-to-earth behavioral methods—simple, everyday tools you can apply right away—with cutting-edge brain-based psychotherapy and somatic psychology. This means we don’t just talk about struggles, we work with the brain and body together to release what’s stuck and create lasting healing.

Through approaches like Brainspotting, along with evidence-based behavioral strategies, I help clients move past old patterns, reduce emotional distress, and build healthier ways of living. My goal is to make therapy both approachable and transformative: practical enough to help you right now, and powerful enough to create deep, long-term change.

What you can expect from me

My times available are flexible to fit your schedule. In our first sessions, we’ll take time to talk about your hopes for counseling—what brought you here, what you’d like to work on, and what goals matter most to you. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I believe you are the expert of your own life. My role is to walk alongside you, offering tools, insight, and support to help you move toward the outcomes you want.

You can also expect us to explore the connection between the body and the brain. Stress, trauma, and emotions don’t just live in our thoughts—they also show up in the body. Together, we’ll look at how your mind and body respond to life’s challenges and use both practical strategies and brain-based methods (like Brainspotting and somatic techniques) to bring relief and healing.

My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and respected. From there, we’ll combine your lived wisdom with therapeutic tools to build resilience, freedom, and lasting change.
